I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I currently reside. My interest in writing began around age seven after being inspired by R.L. Stine's Goosebumps books and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. My early works include creating a fake newspaper, writing and acting in plays I performed for my family, and writing and illustrating my own book for a fourth grade project. I later graduated from Hamline University with a Bachelor's Degree in English with a creative writing concentration.
Most of my writing is inspired by my long and difficult battle with many mental illnesses, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and alcohol addiction. Writing has always been an outlet for me, and fiction has been a way to convey my experiences when reality cannot. I hope not only to entertain but to connect with others suffering from mental illness and let them know that they aren't alone.
I've been a lifelong horror fan since discovering the genre in early childhood. Since then I've always been fascinated by monsters, gore, the macabre, the occult, the feeling of fear, and the overall dark side of life, especially in human behavior. Oddly, those things bring me the most joy in this world.
